We're going back to Massachusetts .....

The sun is shining !! It is going to be a great day for sight seeing.

First stop - a nature park at the back of the Tip / Transfer Station. A quiet and secluded wet lands area home to many birds, turtles and other furry critters.

Tomasso Nature Park
Snapping Turtle
Squirrel
We then head into the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, an area known for its stunning scenery, especially its lakes, and its historic villages and places. I won't bore you by listing everywhere we went, but lets just say, that this area was well populated in the 18th and 19th century so there is architecture on display, both in the very pretty towns and in the wealthy houses surrounding the lakes.

Methodist Church of Litchfield

Superior Court of Litchfield

Bantam Lake

Canadian Geese family at Lake Waramaug

The Grace Mayfield Club

Bulls Covered Bridge
Kent Falls

Trinity Church, Lime Rock

We had a great day out of the major towns and into the country, with some pretty nice weather to boot. It's great to be on holidays!

    1. Funny you should say that. We do sing that song each time we cross the border.

  2. Why did they cover the bridges?

    1. To keep the snow and ice off the bridges for the horse and carts. These bridges are over 100 years old and the carts would slide off the bridges if they were not protected.
